 ation Sunday\, Monday\, Wednesday\, Thursday 18-18:30\nWorkshop themes:\nW
orkshop 1: Breath &amp\; BandhaIn his class we (re)connect to our breath a
nd explore how it influences our well-being. We delve deeper into the morn
ing pranayama exercises and lay the foundation for the morning practice th
roughout the week. The aim is to help participants improve the relationshi
p to their breath\, to learn how to self-regulate and to gain a deeper und
erstanding of the role of the breath in their yoga practice and daily life
. We also look at the importance of bandha and what this means for our bre
ath as well as asana practice.\nWorkshop 2: Grounded and stableThis class
looks at how to create a good foundation for a stable and sustainable prac
tice\; how to be grounded and steady on our feet and in our head. We look
at the importance of the sun salutations and standing sequence in Ashtanga
yoga\; how we use our feet and legs is fundamental to laying a good found
ation for what will come. We also look at how mastering the standing postu
res lay the foundation for more difficult postures ahead.\nWorkshop 3: Spa
ciousness in body\, mind and breathThe pressures and stresses of life may
make us feel cornered or trapped. Uncomfortable asana or fear of making ce
rtain shapes with the body may cause tension and compression. In this clas
s we look at how to create space in our movements\, in our breath and in o
ur mind. We particularly look at making space for the spine and its natura
l curves and how to practice in order to prevent future pain or injury.\nW
orkshop 4: The yoga of actionWhat is the purpose of yoga? Why do we practi
ce? How is our physical practice related to how we live “off the mat”? Kri
ya yoga - Tapas\, Swadhyaya\, Ishvarapranidhana – tells us how to practice
. The eight limbs of Ashtanga lay out the method\, but the first and secon
d limbs - Yama and Niyama - often end up in the shadow of the third and fo
urth limbs (asana and pranayama). In this class we discuss how we can inte
rpret the five Yama and Niyama and how to mindfully include them into our
 daily lives.\n\n\n
