NEW COURSE: Understanding asana mechanics and adjustment technique (5 sessions)
Ashtanga Yoga Malmö
Would you like to learn more about the purpose and mechanics of different yoga postures? Do you want to deepen your understanding of your own yoga practice? Then this course is for you.
This is a course that aims to deepen the individual practitioner’s understanding of their yoga practice through an in depth study of the function of different yoga postures and their relationship to each other (mainly looking at the Primary series of Ashtanga yoga). We explore the mechanism of each posture; learn how to execute it with suitable alignment for a safe and sustainable practice. We also look at how to adjust/help others (with consent) since helping/adjusting others can lead to a better understanding of the asana even if we don’t have the aim of teaching in the end.
Please note that the course is not a quick fix or a shortcut to learn the Primary series of Ashtanga Yoga. The course is NOT for beginners and is only open to those who have a regular practice and who have finished at least half the Primary series of Ashtanga Yoga (up to Navasana). Candidates need to be able to attend all sessions and motivate why they would like to attend this course.

It is the first part in a series that in total cover the full Primary series and part of intermediate series. The following two levels will be held in the autumn of 2023.
In addition to learning to adjust hands on, the course participants are expected to observe a number of Mysore classes and to learn the vinyasa count and asana names for a half led primary class (level 2+3 require counting the full Primary).
